Wire Village School Newsletter
Welcome to Fall
September 25, 2020
To the staff, students and families of Wire Village School:
As of today, all Hybrid students have had access to in-person learning, whether it was Cohort A last week for three days or Cohort B this week for four. In each case, teachers and parents concur that it is so good to be able to interact in person again.
Overall, students have adjusted well and seem to be happy to be back in school. A popular response is they are most excited about having TWO recesses this year! These planned breaks give them the time they need to help balance the day.
While much of the first weeks are about setting expectations, the teachers will begin to introduce curriculum in a similar gradual manner. Becoming accustomed to being back at school and building relationships between students and their teachers is first, whether virtually or in person.
We appreciate the feedback we have received and will continue to respond and communicate, but we also encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher should questions arise. It is often easier and most productive to ask them directly or to contact us if questions or concerns remain.
As we approach the return of Cohort A students on Monday, September 28, we will continue the distribution of iPads to the remaining Cohort A students in need throughout the week and teachers will be able to model the technology skills and access with their students. We appreciate the patience parents have shown in this process and again apologize for the unforeseen delay.
On a final note, we would like to wish you a Happy Fall! Though we are still in the midst of a pandemic, there are many ways to celebrate the season in a fun and safe way. My own family and I were able to go apple picking, an annual tradition for us and felt so good to be able to do so. Whether it’s an outdoor sports practice night or pumpkin picking or any of the things you like to do, this might be among the best times to do so. Please stay safe and healthy and enjoy this season that affords us these things in abundance.
