To the Students, Staff and Families of WVS,
The time has finally come as we plan to open our doors to a New School Year! We want to thank all of you for all you’ve done over recent months and especially your participation in our Parent Info Sessions. Below is a brief synopsis of the upcoming week and resources available to you directly through the district website. Be sure to check out sebrsd.org to find info about Bus Routes, School Lunch Info and Menus, Technology Log-in Info and much more! Please note Breakfast and lunches are available to all students at NO CHARGE until Dec 31st! Meals for remote students are available for pick-up at Knox Trail. More info at Food Services on sebrsd, org.
This week, on Tuesday, September 15th, we will open our doors to COHORT A students only while all other students in Hybrid and Remote Programs will be participating virtually instead. Next week, on September 21st, only Cohort B students will be entering school for their first time. Cohort C students attend both weeks. If your child does not have technology at home and you have not yet picked up an iPad (grades K-2 or Chromebook (grades 3 and 4), please contact our school at 508-885-8524 or email salihp@sebrsd.org. For Technology log-in or problems with technology, please send request/details to technology@sebrsd.org
Arrival at School:
Buses will begin arriving at school at about 8:05 am and we will have many staff on hand to help our students. Bus tags will be distributed, which will ease all in the process.
We will assist in guiding students off the bus and directing them to their entrance. Entrances will be clearly marked.
Student Drop-off will follow. AFTER all the buses have left, The line of parent cars will be directed by our crossing guard to pull up to the school. Students, wherever possible, should exit the vehicle on the passenger side. Parents are advised not to leave until the student is safely away from the car. Staff will guide students to their appropriate grade entrance. Grades K and 1 will enter at first floor entrance and Grades 2 and 3 will enter at front entrance. Parents are asked toremain in their cars.
We want to Welcome Back our students in style. Our BCBA, Mr. Madden has created a video to help students in the process:
Below is the link for a video of arriving for K-3 students.
As students enter school, staff will guide them to their room, where breakfast will be available. Their day will begin with Morning Meeting, followed by introductions, activities, recess and mask breaks, lunch and academics. Much time will be spent on learning and modeling expectations for students. Lunch information is available under Food Services at sebrsd.org. Please also note if sending lunch or snacks to school, disposable bags are appreciated and would help eliminate heavier items in a student’s backpack. Backpacks will be stored in the classroom, as lockers are not being assigned at this time.
Dismissal from School:
This year buses will be first to depart, beginning at 2:35 pm. Since there are assigned seating on buses, we anticipate this process will take a bit of time at first. Parents are asked to remain in their cars.
Parents who will be picking up students may begin arriving at 2:45 pm by lining up vehicles in the same manner as drop off. Only AFTER all the buses have left will the crossing guard direct parent vehicles to the school entrance. Please have ID and lots of patience as we deliver students to each vehicle. We anticipate delays in this process for the first couple of weeks as each cohort becomes accustomed to it.
For our Grade 4 students and full remote students, you will be hearing from one or more teachers designated to your child. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to assign a staff person designated to the full remote students to each grade and have done so in grades K-2. Grade 3 TBD in the near future, but your child will still be able to access until that time.
Thank you all so much for your support in this process and for the staff who have been preparing the last two weeks and more in welcoming back our students.
Sincerely,
Linda Stanelun, Principal
Melanie Ethier, Assistant Principal
