Summaries submitted by schools.
Valerie Boatemah-Kuffour, Abby Kelley High School: Valerie, a junior, consistently exceeds academic expectations in rigorous AKHS courses. Valerie has been affiliated with the YMCA since she, herself, was a "little." She has since volunteered extensively and has become employed as a youth counselor. Valerie is now beloved by her own "littles," who are so lucky to be in her care. Valerie was recently accepted into the distinguished THRIVE Scholars Program.
Quinn Lyon, David Prouty High School: Quinn, a freshman, is a dedicated student with a strong academic record. She is on the honor roll. She is particularly interested in the marketing program. She is very involved in her school community, she is a member of the Student Council, where she actively participates in many activities. She is also a valued member of the Prouty cheer team and is a part of their competition team. Outside of school, she is a Girl Scout and helps with her younger sister’s troop. In the summer, she is a counselor in training and takes care of all the kids.
Eliannie Monroe, South High Community School: A passionate and thoughtful learner, Eliannie, a junior, recently demonstrated exceptional analytical skills in an essay exploring authorial intent in "A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry. Her deep understanding of the play’s themes, historical context, and the author’s purpose showcased not only her critical thinking abilities but also her talent for articulating complex ideas with clarity and depth. Beyond her impressive literary analysis, Eliannie is a hardworking and engaged student who brings enthusiasm and thoughtful discussion to the classroom. She consistently challenges herself to think beyond the surface, approaching her studies with tremendous effort and passion.
Keira Tetreault, David Prouty High School: Keira is a sophomore who cares deeply about both academics and athletics. Last summer, she became a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and this upcoming summer plans to attend George Mason University’s National Youth Leadership Forum Law and CSI course in Maryland. Her dream is to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she plans to major in criminal justice and minor in criminology. She wants to be in the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children unit to help protect those who can’t protect themselves. Outside of school, her heart and soul belong to cheer. She is a member of two competitive cheer teams.
