SPENCER, MA – On August 11th, 2022, the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) informed David Prouty Basketball Varsity Coach Pat O’Connor of his selection as the “Coach of the Year” for the 2021-2022 basketball season.
As a Coach of the Year recipient, he is invited to attend the MBCA Hall of Fall Banquet this coming November, where he will be recognized for this impressive achievement. The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at College of the Holy Cross.
The program will conclude the induction of three remarkable coaches into the MBCA Hall of Fame (David Fazio, Lance Dottin, and Brad Simpson), the announcement of the Leo Miller and Presidential Service award winners, and the recognition of the MBCA “Coaches of the Year” and new Victory Club members.
“Please join all of us within the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District - and David Prouty High School community - in celebrating Coach Pat O’Connor on this wonderful recognition from the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches Association,” said Superintendent Paul Haughey.
“It is a testament to a lot of hard work on the part of our entire community-at-large, from our parents and families to our coaches and players - shepherded by Coach O’Connor - that the David Prouty High School Varsity Boys Basketball team had such a successful 2021-2022 season… With that said, I have always been impressed with the fact that Pat O’Connor has coached the varsity basketball team in such a calm, cool and collected manner while bringing out their best effort every night - regardless of the outcome or score. Coach O’Connor’s character shines through in his players every night,” added Haughey, “He is so deserving of this recognition from the MBCA!”
