Good Afternoon Everyone,
I hope this Superintendent Update for June 2022 finds you and yours well. Despite a couple of hot days recently, everyone has managed take part or plan to take part in field days, field trips, outdoor learning and end-of-year concerts and graduations in our Districtwide Preschool, Wire Village School Grade 4, East Brookfield Elementary Grade 6 and High School…. Please take a moment to join me in recognizing and celebrating the Class of 2022! I consider them one of the most resilient and hope filled classes of my tenure in education and could not be prouder of how they navigated these past four years…
Enrollment: As we approach the end of this school year, I am pleased to report that the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District proudly served more than 1,411 students.
Covid-19 Update: As a result of our due diligence and efforts to keep our students and staff safe and healthy, I am equally pleased to report that we only had a total of 94 staff members and 493 students confirmed as contracting Covid-19 in the 2021-2022 school year.
MSBA Update: The David Prouty High School “Addition/Renovation” Building Project continues to move forward toward a June 22nd, 2022 meeting with the Massachusetts School Building Authority’s (MSBA) Board of Directors. At this time, our local School Building Committee has worked diligently and submitted all documents and materials needed for consideration to move into Module 5: Funding the Project. Should the MSBA Board of Directors vote in the affirmative, we will move out of Module 4: Schematic Design and begin the process of working with the two towns we serve to prepare for a Special Town Meeting and Ballot vote this fall of 2022. To learn more about the progress our School Building Committee is making, please check out our informational website at: https://dphsbuilding.com/

Once again, please join me in congratulating our David Prouty HS Class of 2021!
As well, the Knox Trail Middle School Graduation is planned for Tuesday, June 14, 2022 (Start Time 5:00pm). NOTE: The Knox Trail Middle School Graduation Ceremony will take place at the David Prouty High School Football field.
And finally, the last day of school is a half day for grades K-8 within the district and will be Thursday, June 16, 2022. The high school has a few makeup days, which will be final exam days. The final day of school for David Prouty High School is also a half day and will be Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022. As always, I deeply appreciate your continued partnership and support of the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District.
