SPENCER, MA - April 23, 2021 - Keeping college an option for high school seniors by filling out the FAFSA
Please take a moment to remind high school seniors to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. Fewer students have filled out the forms this year, and we fear it will translate into fewer students attending college in the fall and preparing for a well-paying career. Filling out the FAFSA doesn’t commit a student to anything, and it will help ensure that college is an option for them. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has made a grant available to help eligible schools with these efforts, and general resources about filling out FAFSA forms are available from the U.S. Department of Education and through the Department of Higher Education’s Office of Student Financial Assistance. In addition, DESE, the Department of Higher Education, and the Executive Office of Education have launched a FAFSA awareness website at www.mass.gov/financialaid.
