Welcome Back!

Strong Start!  Our first eight days of school have been very successful! I walked around all of our schools over the past two weeks and spent yesterday at the Wire Village School; and I have to say that the future is bright for our students. Your children have settled in nicely to the routines of school and are well on their way to a successful year.

Coffee Talks.  I will begin holding my monthly Superintendent “Coffee Talks” on Monday, September 16th. The Coffees are held at 9:00 am at the McDonald’s Restaurant in Spencer, MA. The purpose of the Coffee is to provide parents and community members with the opportunity to learn about the District, to ask questions, and to provide feedback to me about your experiences in our schools. Throughout the year, different members of the Central Office Leadership Team will also attend the Coffees. This team is comprised of Mr. Matt Bolduc, Director of Academic Affairs; Ms. Kara Westerman, Director of Student Services; Mr. Gary Suter, School Business Administrator; Mr. Eric Hevy, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds; and Mrs. Paula Caldwell, Director of Food Services. School Committee members also regularly attend.

Future Dates for the Coffee Talks are: (9:00 am)

  • Monday, October 28

  • Monday, December 16
  • Monday, January 27
  • Monday, February 24

MSBA David Prouty HS Core Project Information.  One topic that we will be discussing for sure during the September Coffee Talk will be the Massachusetts School Building Authority Core Project for David Prouty High School. The School Building Committee (SBC) has been meeting regularly since June of 2019, and at every meeting, we continue to make progress towards determining what the future of our high school will look like… If you are interested in following the progress of the high school building project, please check out the High School Building Project link on our website   All of the agendas and presentations from the past School Building Committee meetings can be found on this website, along with upcoming meeting dates.

Back-to-School Nights!  Over the four weeks, all of our schools will be holding “Back-to-School" Nights. This event provides you with the opportunity to meet with teachers, visit classrooms, and learn more about the excellent programs and servies that your children are immersed in every day. I strongly encourage you to attend these important events.

Finally, thank you for partnering with us in the education of your child.  I look forward to learning from, and with, all of you in the new school year ahead.  #ChooseSEBRSD #Progress #Unity #Knowledge
