    In 2025, David Prouty High School earned the Early College Designation with Worcester State University, which means our high school program has been officially recognized to partner with the university, allowing students to take college-level courses and earn college credit while in high school. This designation helps students get a head start on their college education, at no cost, reduces the time and cost to a degree, and prepares them for college-level work and career paths.

Innovation

STEAM curriculum: The district has expanded its curriculum to focus on STEAM subjects, with hands-on enrichment programs in robotics, coding, and creative arts. AI integration: The district has adopted a generative AI policy and is partnering with MIT to integrate the technology into the K-12 curriculum to enhance learning and efficiency. 1:1 technology: Students in grades 3 through 12 have access to a personal laptop or tablet for digital learning. The League of Innovative Schools: The Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District is the first Massachusetts school system to be inducted into the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools. The League of Innovative Schools connect and rally the most forward-thinking leaders of the nation’s school districts.

Inspiration

Personalized learning and student support Individualized growth: The district focuses on each student's growth through a cycle of monitoring, reflection, and revision, providing resources to support their growth. Support for all learners: The curriculum is designed to support students with learning difficulties and those new to English. Collaborative special education: General and special education teachers co-plan, co-teach, and co-assess students to ensure each student's educational needs and civil rights are met within the general curriculum.

Achievement

New building: The high school recently underwent a major renovation and addition project, resulting in a modern facility designed for both traditional and career-vocational technical education and learning. Athletics: Winning has become a popular slogan with state, regional, and conference championship teams and appearances by individuals or teams from 17 other athletic programs over our 63+ year history as a district! We consistently produce recognized scholar-athletes each year, and our new facilities will enhance our success! High-achieving music/band: The David Prouty High School Band earned an "Excellence" score at the Disney World Competition in 2025. Academic recognition: The district has numerous opportunities to recognize students from every walk of life, from the National Junior Honor Society to the National Honor Society to Project 351, and even has a tradition of awarding the "White Sweater Award" to seniors who have maintained a career average of 93 or higher, recognizing their exemplary academic achievement.

Sustainability

Green Ribbon Award nominee: The district was nominated for the 2025 Green Ribbon Award for its efforts in three areas: reducing environmental impact and costs, improving student and staff health and wellness, and effective environmental education. Environmental education: The STEAM curriculum is used to teach environmental and sustainability education through hands-on, experiential learning. Energy initiatives: The district has a master energy plan to reduce its environmental footprint.

Community Engagement

Professional development: The district provides professional development for teachers and supports the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation System to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Teacher licensing: 100% of the district's teachers are licensed. Community involvement: The district engages parents and the community around teaching and learning goals, with college, career, and life readiness front and center!

Arts

@ChooseSEBRSD encourages students to explore their talents in modern facilities that accommodate a wide variety of creative pursuits. We offer enrichment options throughout all grade levels to ensure students can express their ideas visually. Our staff is continually exposing students to exciting techniques and experiences, like firing raku pottery, creating tape walls in the hallways, and building elaborate sets for our performances.

@ChooseSEBRSD has 50+ clubs. Many compete at the state and national level! With options like Drama Club, ESports, NHS, ECO, Unity Club, and Unified Sports, there is truly something for everyone! Whether you like to be challenged academically, motivated by a cause, engaged socially, inspired creatively, or to compete physically or mentally, we have a club for you!

Careers

@ChooseSEBRSD students participate in youth apprenticeships in their shops and also have internships/externships, community service, and service-learning opportunities available in graphic design, technology, and more! Community and academic partnerships allow students to share (and even profit from) their work while gaining real-world skills, earning post-secondary credits, pursuing apprenticeships, or even earning advanced manufacturing certificates.

Distinguished Alumni

The David Prouty High School "Distinguished Alumni" Program recognizes graduates who have achieved outstanding success in their fields. It is an annual event where honorees are celebrated for their accomplishments through a ceremony and by having their professional portraits displayed in the school. The program aims to inspire current students by showcasing how alumni have used their experiences from the school to achieve their dreams.
